Irish Cycling Campaign Privacy Statement

The Irish Cycling Campaign is committed to protecting the rights and privacy of individuals in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) and the Irish Data Protection Acts, 1988 to 2018 (as amended) (the “DPA”) – collectively referred to as “the Data Protection Acts”. 

This Privacy Statement sets out the basis on which we process any personal data collected from you, or that you provide to us. The Irish Cycling Campaign is the data controller of the personal data referred to in this Privacy Statement.

What data do we collect?

The Irish Cycling Campaign may collect and process personal data about you where you:

  1. Become a member of the Irish Cycling Campaign
  2. Subscribe to our newsletter
  3. Subscribe to our communication channels
  4. Attend or volunteer at events
  5. Engage with the Irish Cycling Campaign on social media 
  6. Engage in email or other forms of correspondence with the Irish Cycling Campaign

Personal data that we collect may include name, address, email address, phone number, membership payment details (if applicable), photographs, emails, letters or other correspondence.  

How do we use your data? 

The Irish Cycling Campaign uses your personal data to: 

  • notify you of activities, events and news that are relevant to the Campaign’s objectives
  • facilitate collaboration and communication between our members for the furtherance of the objectives of the Irish Cycling Campaign
  • Provide you with information that you might request from the Irish Cycling Campaign
  • Gather information about the Irish Cycling Campaign’s members and the financial status of the organisation
  • Register and manage your membership of the Irish Cycling Campaign
  • Manage and analyse the traffic to the Irish Cycling Campaign website (where we have your consent to do so) 

The Irish Cycling Campaign does not: 

  • Transfer personal data to third parties for marketing purposes
  • Transfer personal data outside of the European Union 

What is our legal basis for collecting and processing your personal data? 

The legal basis on which we collect and process your personal data depends on the type of data collected or processed and the context in which it has been collected. However, we will only use your personal information where we:

  • Have your clear, specific and informed consent to do so;
  • Need to process the data in order to perform a contract with you or in order to enter into a contract with you at your request;
  • Need to process the data in order to comply with the law 
  • Need to process the data for our legitimate interests or the legitimate interests of a third party but only where those interests are not overridden by your data protection interests or fundamental rights and freedoms;
  •  Need to protect your vital interests or those of a third party.

How do we store your data? 

All personal data processed by the Irish Cycling Campaign is subject to an appropriate level of security in order to protect against unauthorised or unlawful processing and accidental loss.

The Irish Cycling Campaign ensures that all computers and databases are password-protected, and encrypted if appropriate. Shared usernames/passwords are not permitted for systems that have significant amounts of personal data, including our membership database, PayPal and the Irish Cycling Campaign website. All computers, servers, and files securely locked away from unauthorised people.

The Irish Cycling Campaign will only hold information about you for as long as needed for the specific purpose for which it was collected. Unless otherwise requested, we will continue to hold and process your information for as long as you are an active member of the Irish Cycling Campaign. Data relating to any lapsed members will be deleted after two years.

Right of access 

You have the right to obtain a copy of personal data that we hold about you. 

Right of rectification or erasure 

You have the right to request us to rectify or erase any personal data we hold about you.

Right to restrict processing 

You have the right to request that we restrict our processing of your personal data where you feel that data is inaccurate or unlawfully held

Right to Portability

You have a right to submit a data portability request if your personal data is processed based on consent and is carried out by automatic means. This means that you can request your data for the purposes of transferring this data to another controller. 

Right to Object

You have a right to object to our processing your personal data where we process your data based on legitimate interests. 

Right to Opt-out of Marketing Communications

You have the right to opt out of marketing communications by clicking on the “unsubscribe” or “opt-out” link in any marketing emails we send.
